For decades, the dominant economic model has been based on a linear logic: extract, produce, consume, discard. While this model drove the industrial growth of the 20th century, it has now become a factor of instability: dependence on critical resources, price volatility, geopolitical tensions, and regulatory pressure. These are all risks that weigh on value chains, economic sovereignty, and the ecosystems upon which all activity depends.
In the face of these vulnerabilities, the circular economy offers a strategic advantage by reconciling economic and environmental performance. It helps strengthen the robustness of value chains, create new drivers of competitiveness, and reduce pressure on planetary boundaries.
For over ten years, Circul'R has been supporting major private groups in transforming their business models, while working with public stakeholders to structure and deploy public policies that accelerate the scaling of the circular economy.
History
What has shaped us and brought us to where we are today.
2014
Jules Coignard and Raphaël Masvigner met while both working at Airbus in Mexico. They shared a common intuition: the linear model that structures the economy is reaching its limits. Rather than just observing, they left the aeronautics industry to embark on the first world tour of the circular economy: 17 months, 22 countries, and 150 circular initiatives visited.
2016
Back in France, they founded Circul'R with a strong conviction: the circular economy is not a peripheral issue, but a strategic one. The company's goal was to raise awareness among major corporations about the benefits of the circular economy and connect them with the most promising solutions.
2018
Brune Poirson, then Secretary of State to the Minister for the Ecological Transition, inaugurated the first edition of the Circul'R Club. It brought together pioneers of circularity from major French corporations and providers of circular solutions, allowing them to share feedback, decode regulatory challenges, and forge collaborations to collectively accelerate the transformation of their business models.
2021
Launch of La Fabrique PLV, Circul'R's first cross-sector coalition. 14 companies from across the point-of-sale advertising value chain—including Coca-Cola, Bel, Kronenbourg, Carrefour, Auchan, and Suez—joined forces to rethink a sector where over 80% of materials end up destroyed. This unique format of "coopetition" would go on to become Circul'R's signature approach.
2023
In June 2023, Circul'R hosted a Club event at the Ministry of the Economy and Finance dedicated to the economic benefits of circular models, bringing together over 350 participants. A strong signal: the circular economy is no longer just an environmental issue; it is a matter of sovereignty and industrial performance, addressed at the highest levels of decision-making.
2025
Circul'R now leads a dozen active sector-specific coalitions (cosmetics, industry, finance, wines and spirits, etc.) and supports nearly 150 private and public stakeholders, including 80% of the CAC40. That same year, the Legrand Group acquired a stake in the company to accelerate its growth in France and Europe. This is a mark of confidence from a major industrial group and proof that the circular economy has become a top-tier strategic priority.
2026
Circul'R has joined the Coordination Group of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP)—the joint body of the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee that brings together 24 organizations to guide circularity policies across the continent. This recognition is a natural extension of our work: moving from business models and French industries to contributing to the regulatory frameworks that will shape the European circular economy.
